Since people have been moving from big cities to suburbs and rural areas, they have been searching for ideas on how they can upgrade their yard this spring. If you’re one of these people, you’ve come to the right place!

We’ve stayed indoors for too long not just because of the winter season, but because of the pandemic as well. It’s only natural for us to be excited this spring now that more people are getting vaccinated.

To be able to enjoy a good weekend with our friends and family, see how your yard can be ready this spring:

1. Sweep up your yard

Spring season won’t be complete if this tradition isn’t on your list: spring cleaning! Be sure to ready your vacuum, dusters, and other cleaning equipment.

To have an organized spring cleaning flow, do these in order:

  • Prune your trees, bushes, and shrubs. Make sure to remove all broken and damaged branches and other parts.
  • Eliminate all waste that was covered in snow and ended up in your yard last winter.
  • Pull out those horrible weeds now so you won’t have to spend a whole day doing this under the scorching sun in summer.
  • Schedule pest control proactively to prevent them from destroying the house you worked hard for.

2. Consider fertilizing your plants

Not all fertilizers are toxic since a lot of them still contain healthy nutrients that plants will absorb when it rains.

The soil must be layered properly so your plants could grow to their fullest. It’s recommended to put around 6 inches of soil (better if it already contains fertilizer).

3. Take advantage of this season to plant some crops

Spring season is the best time for planting fruits and vegetables since they’ll have a lot of time to grow between spring and winter. Just be sure to check which specific crops of your liking would grow best

‍ during this season.

4. Put large pots of flowers or plants at your door

As the saying goes, first impressions last. Putting your flowers or plants in large pots atthe front door is a good way to give your visitors a warm welcome in your humble abode. Super bells and mums can definitely make your entrance bright and merry.

For pots that are sturdy enough to last even during the winter season, you can search for cast stone or resin-based types.

5. Find the perfect spot where you can chill out

Big or small, there will always be a spot in your yard where you can put a chair or bench and a small table. Better take a look at your yard later and hunt for that perfect spot!

Clue: It can be under a tree or a spot that needs attention.

Once you’ve found THE spot, look for chairs or benches that are suitable for all seasons, and a small table where you can put your favorite coffee or book for total relaxation.

PS: Hammocks are ideal, too!

6. Don’t forget your lawn

A green and beautiful lawn will definitely set the environment for all these mentioned things you’ve been working on.

Establish a healthy lawn this spring by doing these:

  • Rake deeply in order to get the thatch, which can be bad for your grass if it becomes too thick.
  • Apply herbicides to remove all the weeds in your lawn right now. This can be done by using a pre-emergent or a post-emergent herbicide, which depends if the weeds are annuals or perennials.
  • Bring out your lawn mower and check if it needs to be serviced or replaced.

7. Outdoor lighting is important, too

Enjoying your own yard isn’t limited to broad daylight. Putting up some lights will totally make your parties or simple chitchat more fun.

You could go for some string lights that twinkle or accent lights that bring dramatic vibes to your lawn. If you want to be a little bit more creative, you can also wrap your tree trunks with string lights in clear for a magical effect (or in colorful ones, too).

These are just a handful of ways that you can beautify your yard and utilize it more. What matters most is the time you spend with yourself, your family, and the important people who make your life better.
