Here are two freelancers whose stories will inspire you to pursue it as a career

Freelancing is something that so many people dream of pursuing. It’s the promise of being able to work on your own time without the demands of a typical 9-to-5 job. But freelancing isn’t something that everyone is brave enough to jump into no matter how badly they want it or how much they think about it.

When you decide to freelance, you say goodbye to the assurance of that comfortable monthly salary but you say hello to wider possibilities. If you’re someone who really wants to know more about people who have gone down the freelancing route and lived to tell the tale, then keep on reading and be inspired.

The gig economy is one that a lot of people in this new generation of workers is gearing more towards. There are a variety of reasons why this could be so: it’s their passion; they have trouble getting steady jobs; they work better when they aren’t tied down, etc.

There’s no one reason why someone would choose this exciting and unpredictable way of earning money. One thing for sure, though, is that this way of working won’t go anywhere in the near or distant future.

Elliot Davidson, the entrepreneur at heart

Elliot is a digital marketing consultant who said: “I was never a great employee. I was an entrepreneur at heart and working for someone else.”

The reason Elliot decided to go freelance was because he loved adrenaline sports and he wanted more freedom to be able to train while still being able to support himself, so he set up his digital marketing business.

Despite all odds and most of the people in his life telling him it was better for him to not pursue the business he wanted, Elliot still did it. He knew that going against the grain and pursuing his passion was what he needed to do to be happy.

He knew he was on the right track when he managed to land his first large client that wasn’t even in their local area.

Chiara Ferragni, the social media success

Chiara’s name maybe a little more well-known and widely praised, because she is a blogger-turned-influencer who was probably one of the pioneers. Chiara loves to travel and dress up, and she took those passions of hers and made a name for herself.

In 2018, she was listed as one of Italy’s most influential people. She may have started on a small social media site posting her daily outfits, but now she’s seen worldwide with multiple businesses — all thanks to her desire to follow her passion.

Elliott and Chiara are from vastly different backgrounds and are in very different areas of freelancing, but one thing they have in common is their desire to pursue their passion.

We don’t know anything about what went on behind the scenes with them but we can be sure that they suffered their own fair share of setbacks but got back even stronger. They proved to themselves and to those around them that they have what it takes to make it in the industries they brought themselves into.
